Wayne LabinsOffice Manager
My job title is Office Manager, which means I am responsible for supervising the office staff, ensuring office operations run smoothly, and keeping the equipment and physical plant maintained for God’s work. I assist with production and editing of ASAP printed materials and perform updates and photo-editing for the ASAP website. I supervise our office volunteers, which help with bulk mailings and are a vital part of the ASAP team. I provide logistical support for staff and Ambassadors who represent ASAP at churches, conferences, and Camp Meetings. God has also opened doors for me to share from His Word and about the projects of ASAP at various churches. The best part of my job is getting to know and pray with our ASAP family of donors and mission trip participants, who generously give of their time, treasure, and talent to help our brothers and sisters in Southeast Asia. SCHOOLINGIn 1988, I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. In the Fall of 2005, I graduated from the Complete Course at the Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism (AFCOE) in Rocklin, CA. HOW YOU WERE ORIGINALLY CONNECTED TO ASAPShem and Rochelle Aguila, who participated in the 2008 ASAP Cambodia Mission Trip, visited the church my wife Sherri and I attended in Templeton, CA. Once they knew we were involved in outreach training, lay-preaching and prison ministry, they suggested we consider applying for the 2009 mission trip. We did apply and it was truly a miracle of God that we were enabled to go on the trip! We were deeply moved by the physical and spiritual needs of the people in Cambodia, but also thankful to God at how well He is using ASAP to reach so many with the good news of Jesus Christ (we witnessed 826 souls get baptized!). I had never seen a ministry so effectively combine humanitarian aid, medical missionary work and spiritual education to help the poor in both short- and long-term ways. ASAP closely resembles how Jesus loved and worked—and God blesses. WHEN YOU STARTED WORKING WITH ASAPIn September 2009, I started working with ASAP in Berrien Springs, Michigan. During the previous months, the LORD was opening doors for this to happen. Sherri and I made a commitment for me to be a part of ASAP by quitting a stable engineering job and putting our house up for sale in a down market. God honored our decision and brought us a buyer four days after our house was listed! Though working at ASAP with a small staff means we are very busy, it is truly more of a blessing than “work”. At ASAP, there is a strong emphasis on prayer and trusting God that this is His ministry; He is faithful to supply all our needs for funds and skilled, spiritual laborers as we remain faithful. FAVORITE ASAP PROJECTThe Church Planters (Gift #101) and Lay-Pastors (Gift #102) are the back-bone of ASAP. These dedicated, Spirit-filled national missionaries know the language and culture of the countries in which they live and they work tirelessly to reach souls for God's kingdom in a friendly, compassionate way. In addition to these, I also appreciate the projects God uses to truly change the lives of children, such as the Feed & Read Program (Gift #301) and the Vietnamese SDA School (Gift #308) in Cambodia. WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORKI enjoy hugging my wife, giving bible studies, lay-preaching, email bible counseling, racquetball, camping, hiking, making my special buckwheat-banana-cinnamon pancakes for guests at the home God has given us. YOUR FAVORITE BIBLE TEXTSIf we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) |
