Pastor Isah YoungVietnam Projects Leader and Minister
I lead the SDA house-church movement in Vietnam and am speaker of the Peace & Happiness radio broadcast. I manage the Peace & Happiness radio ministry website and the translation and distribution of SDA materials into the Vietnamese language. I work as District Pastor & Coordinator for Vietnamese Ministries for the Southeastern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. SCHOOLINGI received my undergraduate degree from Walla Walla College and an MDiv from the Andrews University Theological Seminary. HOW YOU WERE ORIGINALLY CONNECTED TO ASAPI met Judy Aitken at the Oregon Vietnamese SDA Campmeeting in 1996. After she gave a talk on missions, I felt impressed to approach her and share my dream to reach Vietnam for Christ. I hesitantly asked her, “Do you think your ministry would be able to help us raise $2,000 for the radio ministry in Vietnam?” She was open to partnering to finish God’s work in this country. Since then, God has done great things through this partnership where now hundreds of thousands have accepted Christ and the truth of the Bible. WHEN YOU STARTED WORKING WITH ASAPSince 1996, the partnership between Peace and Happiness ministry and ASAP steadily grew. I believe the reason for this is that Jesus Christ is coming soon and He wants to finish the work. As of 2007, the ASAP board of directors voted to financially partner with Southeast California Conference to enable me to devote more time in the ministry for Vietnam. In addition to working with the Southeastern California Conference of SDA, ASAP and AWR (who airs the radio broadcasts), I work under the advisement and direction of the Southeast Asian Union Mission and under the auspices of the General Conference of SDA. All these entities meet together each year to bring counsel regarding this ministry and guidance with major decisions regarding this important end-time work. FAVORITE ASAP PROJECTDVD Evangelism (Gift #203). I witness every day the powerful impact of DVDs on the nation of Vietnam. It amazes me how extensive this part of the ministry has grown. So far I have 71 sermons on DVD which are being distributed by the thousands all throughout Vietnam. I see how one sermon set and a DVD player has changed the lives of entire villages and districts. Please pray for the hearts of the Vietnamese as they watch these DVDs. WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORKBecause I spend a lot of time in front of the computer and recording equipment, hiking relieves my back. Climbing up the mountains revitalizes my strength and I enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. Praying is another hobby which I have. Praying is my breath which keeps me alive. ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE BIBLE TEXTSIsaiah 40:28-31: "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. There is no searching of His understanding. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youth shall faint and be weary and the young men shall utterly fall. But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint." We all have moments where we feel old, tired, and discouraged. But we find strength only in the Lord. This promise is for those who know how to wait for Him. |
