Monthly Prayer Points
PRAYER POINTS FOR THE MONTH OF MAY:
- We praise the Lord for His willingness to give us the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" (Luke 11:13) Greater than our need for funds or laborers is our need for the Holy Spirit. We need the blessing of the Holy Spirit upon this work so that many souls can be won into the kingdom of God as was experienced in the early church. Join us in praying for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We are told: “This promised blessing, claimed by faith, brings all other blessings in its train” (DA 672).
- Thailand’s anti-government movement continues to clash violently with the police and military. With bloodshed, Bangkok has been in a state of perpetual anxiety. Pray for the leaders of this country and that God would bring peace. The apostle Paul says, “I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Tim 2:1-2). Pray also that God would protect His people and use the ASAP church planters to be a witness during this time of unrest.
- Pastor Isah Young reports that in the past month the police stepped up persecution in four specific areas of Vietnam. Several of the ASAP house churches were surrounded by a group of up to twenty police officers with clubs and weapons and members, along with ASAP missionaries were arrested. Pray that these attacks will not hinder the spread of the gospel. Pray also that each ASAP sponsored worker will “endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2 Tim. 2:3).
- Jesus said, “Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled” (Luke 6:21). Pray that this promise will be fulfilled for our Hmong and Vietnamese people who hunger for the Word of God. Pray that God will provide Bibles and DVDs, along with players for evangelism who desire to know the truth and share it with others.
- ASAP seeks to do more for the struggling single women in Cambodia. The challenges they face are many and single women often become victims of sex trafficking. Pray that God will guide ASAP in specific ways to know how to reach out to them and show them compassion.
