BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION
To assist the Treasurer with bookkeeping and other miscellaneous office duties.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Oakwood University.
HOW YOU WERE ORIGINALLY CONNECTED TO ASAP
I initially watched ASAP programs on 3ABN and I wanted to start making donations. I wrote down the address and suddenly realized that the office was based right in Berrien Springs where I live. I frequently walk around town but I had never seen the ASAP sign so I called the office to find the exact location. Providentially, they really needed volunteers that day to help with the Christmas mailing and I offered my services on the spot and went over.
WHEN YOU STARTED WORKING WITH ASAP
I started volunteering in December 2011. The warm, friendly atmosphere in the office and the urgent need led me to go in and help out several days a week with donations and mailing. I was officially hired in October 2012 to do bookkeeping also.
FAVORITE ASAP PROJECT
Literacy projects which provide for Literacy/Bible Teachers who can then give the gift of reading to women and children that can’t read. I have a passion for reading and was once a literary teacher trainee myself for a short while. I would like to them to receive the double blessing of preparation for this present world and for the wonderful new world that Jesus has for them also.
WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK
I really enjoy traveling, reading and jigsaw puzzles. For exercise, I like to walk, rebound or play badminton.
YOUR FAVORITE BIBLE TEXT
Isaiah 55:6, 7 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him: and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
