BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION
I coordinate the sponsorship program for donors who sponsor children or missionaries. I also manage the general office operations at the home office in Berrien Springs, MI. It’s a lot of fun to talk with our wonderful donors when they call in to give donations. It also gives me a chance to pray with them.
All of my schooling is from Andrews University (AU). I attended Ruth Murdoch Elementary School, Andrews Academy and AU. I have an AS in Secretarial Studies and a BA Teaching English as a Second Language from AU.
HOW YOU WERE ORIGINALLY CONNECTED TO ASAP
Starting in 1994, I worked with Judy Aitken for several years at the Adventist Frontier Missions (AFM) office. Before that, I knew her son, Jay, in 5th grade! Through the years, my husband and I have read ASAP newsletters and donated when we were able. I also have an interest in Asia since I served as a student missionary in Japan in 1986 and my husband and I served in Korea for two years. Missions has always been important in my life, from childhood when I read many missionary books up until when my husband and I spent four years in Ireland with AFM.
WHEN YOU STARTED WORKING WITH ASAP
I started working here in June 2020.
FAVORITE ASAP PROJECT
Working with the sponsorship of children. They have so many needs and are so cute! Education is so important for everyone, especially girls, to help lift them out of poverty. But most importantly, to learn about Jesus’ love for them, so they can share that with their friends and families.
WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK
Read, bike ride, bird and flower watch, cook and bake.
YOUR FAVORITE BIBLE TEXT
1 Corinthians 10:13 – “ No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. “
