Coronavirus Response

Dear Friends,

I pray that you are staying safe and healthy as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds across our world. Thank you so much for your prayers for the ASAP family. We thank God for granting us wisdom and guidance moment by moment as we make decisions surrounding this global health emergency. Despite the postponement of our mission trip to Cambodia, as well as several missionary training events and other international trips, we see His faithful hand with us, moving His work forward.

ASAP medical missionaries are shining during this time, as they teach virus prevention and minister to those who are sick with a variety of illnesses. Due to COVID-19, many people are showing greater interest in learning how to strengthen their immune systems, wash their hands, and practice good hygiene. We are urgently working to provide additional practical health advice and resources to all ASAP workers so they can protect themselves and help their families and communities. Regardless of their titles (teachers, church planters, youth evangelists, etc.), they are all medical missionaries.

Ellen White wrote, “The right hand is used to open doors through which the body may find entrance. This is the part the medical missionary work is to act. It is to largely prepare the way for the reception of the truth for this time. A body without hands is useless. In giving honor to the body, honor must also be given to the helping hands, which are agencies of such importance that without them the body can do nothing” (MM, p. 238). I believe this counsel has never been more true than it is right now! If you are able and would like to “honor the helping hands,” please consider giving a special gift to advance ASAP’s medical missionary work at this crucial hour in Earth’s history. We so appreciate your faithful prayers and support!

Jesus’ return rapidly approaches. My family is devoting more time to prayer and deep Bible study so that we will be prepared for that amazing time. I encourage you and your families to do the same. A dear friend recently shared two special promises with me. I think you will find them encouraging, too. “Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7 NASB). “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:4-7).

Gratefully looking to Jesus,

Julia O’Carey
