An Inside Look: Missionary Training in Cambodia

This week in Cambodia, ASAP field leaders had the privilege of supporting our local missionaries, as they received hands‑on training designed to strengthen both their confidence and their calling. What unfolded was a glimpse into how God works when preparation and compassion meet real‑world ministry.

Behind the Scenes: How ASAP Equips Local Missionaries

The training began on Tuesday, May 5, at the ASAP mission school in Toul Chan village. Missionaries gathered for instructional presentations that covered practical ministry skills, but the real learning happened as they stepped into the community.

After the morning sessions, the missionaries divided into small groups and went out to meet families whose children attend the mission school. On the first day, three visitation groups visited 12 homes, listening to parents’ stories, praying with them, and building relationships that open doors for the gospel. These visits continued on Wednesday and Thursday, giving missionaries the chance to apply what they were learning in real time.

This blend of classroom instruction and community engagement is at the heart of our holistic approach to mission, training that doesn’t stay in the classroom but moves directly into the lives of the people we serve.

Evenings Filled With Ministry in Action

Each evening, the school grounds transformed into a gathering place for the community. On the first night, 80 students, parents, and villagers attended the evangelistic meetings. For many, it was their first time hearing God's Word.

A Village Leader Shares His Gratitude

One of the most meaningful moments of the week came when the team visited the chief of Toul Chan village, a community of more than 300 households. For years, the village had no access to education nearby. Today, because of the mission school, children are learning, families are hopeful, and the community is changing.

“[The chief] was deeply thankful for the presence of the school and the positive impact it is making in the lives of the people,” said Pastor Benjamin Kip, ASAP's Southeast Asia Field Director.

Support From Church Leadership

On Thursday morning, leaders from the Cambodia Adventist Mission visited the training to encourage the missionaries and affirm the importance of their work. Their presence reminded the team that they are part of a larger movement of believers committed to reaching Cambodia for Christ.

Why This Week Matters
