Clean Water Opens Doors for the Gospel in Cambodia

For many families in central Cambodia, access to water is something they think about every day. Finding enough water for cooking, cleaning, and drinking has long been a constant struggle.
In three villages served by ASAP Ministries church planters, families faced different challenges but shared the same problem: a lack of reliable access to clean water. Some depended on expensive water deliveries that strained already limited household budgets. Others walked to ponds to collect muddy water or relied on seasonal rainwater storage. During the dry season, the situation often became even more difficult.
However, today, thanks to the generosity of ASAP donors, three new water wells have been completed in central Cambodia, bringing practical relief to dozens of families and creating new opportunities for ministry.
A Family's Story
Among those celebrating the arrival of clean water are Oeun Bun Heng and his wife, Cheng Ros, longtime Seventh-day Adventist church members in Krouch Bos Thom village.
For years, their family and their neighbors depended on purchased water to meet their daily needs. During the dry season, costs increased while water quality remained poor. The water they could afford was often unsuitable for drinking, forcing families to spend even more money securing safe water for their households.
Like many parents, Oeun Bun Heng and Cheng Ros wanted to provide opportunities for their children, but a significant portion of their income disappeared simply trying to meet a basic necessity.
A new well changed that.
Now families in the village have access to a reliable local water source, reducing expenses and freeing resources that can be used for food, education, and other essential needs. The daily stress of wondering where water will come from has been replaced with newfound stability and hope.
But the impact didn't stop there.
Grateful for God's provision, Oeun Bun Heng and Cheng Ros made an extraordinary decision. They donated a portion of their own land so a permanent Seventh-day Adventist church can be built for their community.
The same location that now provides physical water will also become a place where people can gather to learn about the Living Water found in Jesus Christ.
Caring for the Whole Person
Each of these wells became a reality through the ministry of local ASAP church planters who live among the people they serve.
In another village, a newly baptized family struggled after their community's primary water source dried up. In a third village, families spent countless hours hauling muddy pond water for daily use. In each case, local church planters saw the need, prayed, and worked with ASAP Ministries to find a solution.
These projects reflect ASAP's commitment to caring for the whole person and the needs of the communities we serve.
When a mother no longer has to spend hours carrying water, when a father can redirect scarce income toward his children instead of purchasing overpriced water, and when a community experiences practical acts of compassion, hearts become more open to hearing the gospel.
That is why ASAP Ministries supports local missionaries who combine compassionate service with disciple-making ministry.
Clean water alone cannot save a person. But meeting practical needs demonstrates Christ's love in tangible ways and often opens doors that might otherwise remain closed.
Thank You for Making This Possible
Because of faithful supporters like you, families in three Cambodian villages now have access to clean water, reduced financial burdens, and renewed hope for the future. And through the relationships built by local church planters, these communities are also being introduced to the One who offers living water that never runs dry.
