John Press
BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION
I script and coordinate video projects, including ASAP’s weekly Mission Matters series, assist with writing, editing, and other aspects of production for printed publications, manage the creation and distribution of email communications, maintain ASAP’s website, and produce statistical reports and analysis for communications and development-related activities.
SCHOOLING
Bachelor of Arts in History, Walla Walla University; Master of Science in Community & International Development, Andrews University.
HOW YOU WERE ORIGINALLY CONNECTED TO ASAP
In 2009, Pastor Martin Kim visited the church I was attending in Portland, Oregon and shared a report on the work of ASAP. It piqued my interest, and I continued to follow ASAP from afar until I arrived at Andrews University in 2016. Over the next several months, I experienced a growing conviction that God was calling me to serve the needs of refugees. My wife and I started praying about it, which set into motion a series of events that led me to begin volunteering at ASAP in June 2017.
WHEN YOU STARTED WORKING WITH ASAP
After volunteering for three months, I officially started working for ASAP in October 2017.
FAVORITE ASAP PROJECT
I especially appreciate our projects that minister to the needs of refugees and at-risk young people.
WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK
I enjoy backpacking, camping, gardening, golfing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my wife and our three children.
YOUR FAVORITE BIBLE TEXT
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
