A Well Brings New Life to Ta Ton Village

by John Press
The sounds of laughter and splashing water fill the air in Ta Ton (a pseudonym), a remote village in southeastern Myanmar. Women and children gather eagerly around their new well, no longer burdened by long, exhausting walks for water. What once felt impossible is now reality—thanks to the generosity of donors like you.
Before the well, life in Ta Ton was difficult, especially for the local ASAP mission school. During the hottest months, existing wells failed, and teachers and students walked up to 10 miles daily to fetch water. Dehydration and exhaustion were common, and waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid affected many.
With support from ASAP donors, the local church, and villagers, a deep artesian well was recently installed on the school grounds. Unlike shallow wells, it draws from a pressurized underground source, ensuring clean, reliable water year-round.
The impact has been immediate and profound. Students can focus in class, families are healthier, and the school has become a center of influence. People from nearby areas facing water shortages are moving closer. They are drawn by the promise of clean water, but now they will also have the opportunity to encounter Jesus, the Living Water, through the Ta Ton mission school and church.
On behalf of ASAP Ministries and the people of Ta Ton—thank you. Your generosity didn’t just provide a well—it brought relief, health, and hope to a village in need. And the resulting blessings will flow in this community for years to come.
