"A Day of Rejoicing": 90 Baptized in Myanmar

by John Press
Ninety people were baptized on Sabbath, May 17, in Myanmar’s Ayeyarwady Mission, marking a significant milestone in the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Harvest 2025 campaign. The year-long evangelistic initiative, led by the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD), aims to reach spiritually unreached communities across the 10/40 Window.
The baptisms coincided with the launch of the second phase of the campaign, which emphasizes active outreach through Bible studies, public preaching, literature distribution, and health programs. In Ayeyarwady, the efforts of local missionaries proved especially fruitful. More than one-third of those baptized were introduced to Jesus through church planters supported by ASAP Ministries.
“Today is a day of rejoicing!” said Timothy Cho (pseudonym), ASAP’s field supervisor in Myanmar, who was present at the event.
In a country where religious expression often requires discretion, and where a civil war and a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake in March 2025 have brought instability, local church leaders and lay people remain committed to sharing their faith. Small group Bible studies have become key to spreading the gospel in a time of crisis.
The Ayeyarwady baptisms highlight the growing impact of Harvest 2025 across Southeast Asia. With similar outreach efforts underway in other parts of the region, the campaign continues to mobilize thousands, bringing hope to some of the most spiritually challenging places in the world.
